Viby Frederiksen 040 Smooth Straight Billiard Red Briar Estate Pipe, Denmark

VIBY, FREDERIKSEN, MADE IN, DENMARK in four lines on the shank, and 040 stamped on the shank too: this is a Viby Frederiksen straight billiard in red smooth briar, with a vulcanite saddle stem, a fishtail mouthpiece and no filter.

It has been smoked before and is in excellent condition, with mild carbonizing in the chamber. Most of the stamp is clear; the first letter of FREDERIKSEN and the D of DENMARK sit at the edge of the stamp and are faint.

The bowl stands upright with straight walls, on a straight, round shank. The stem runs in line with the shank: its flat saddle part meets the briar, then it tapers to the fishtail mouthpiece.
