From the Faridunhill archive - estate pipes documented from our own reference cabinets. The Stanwell Flora Danica, made in Denmark and stamped 148, is a straight smooth pipe with a red-stained briar bowl and a vulcanite saddle stem. The stem is crowned with a sterling silver logo, and the shank features an elegant silver accent band. The pipe is in good condition, with faint scratches around the briar and a tiny rim darkness. It has never been smoked and shows no signs of cake or char. The Stanwell Flora Danica was made in Denmark between 1948 and 1998, as indicated by the 'Made in Denmark' stamp and the '148' shape code. Stanwell was founded in 1942 by Poul Nielsen under the Kyringe brand, and the 'Stanwell' trademark was registered in 1948. The company moved to Borup in 1965 and continued to produce pipes under the Stanwell brand until 2009. The Flora Danica is part of Stanwell's standard line, characterized by its smooth finish and sterling silver accoutrements. The pipe's straight shape and smooth finish make it a classic choice for smokers who prefer a traditional, elegant smoking experience. The vulcanite saddle stem provides a comfortable and durable mouthpiece, while the sterling silver logo and accent band add a touch of luxury to this timeless design. Condition: faint scratches around the briar, tiny rim darkness. The Stanwell Flora Danica is a classic example of the high-quality craftsmanship and attention to detail that Stanwell is known for. It is a beautiful and functional pipe that would make an excellent addition to any collection.
