From the Faridunhill archive - estate pipes documented from our own reference cabinets. This Stanwell pipe is marked 'Royal Mat Made In Denmark', dating it to the mid-20th century. It is an unsmoked example, still in its original silk sleeve with the Stanwell logo in gold on black. THE FACTS

Stanwell was founded in 1942 by Poul Nielsen under Kyringe. In 1948, the 'Stanwell' trademark was registered, with the horse-drawn-carriage logo appearing on boxes and silverwork. Production moved to Borup in 1965, and Danish production ended in 2009. From 2010, Stanwell pipes have been made by Barontini in Italy, except for limited editions. GRADING & MARKS
