We hold no maker attribution for this pipe and we do not invent one. The stamp is named exactly as it reads, and that is where the naming stops.

What is here is a large straight billiard, smooth finished, marked by the seller as a size 4 - a full-scale bowl built for a long, relaxed smoke rather than a quick one. The stem is vulcanite, tapered rather than saddle-cut, and cut with a fishtail slot at the bit. No filter is fitted; the draft runs an open bore from tobacco to lip.

The billiard is the oldest and plainest of pipe shapes: a cylindrical bowl set on a straight shank, no bend, no flare, nothing to distract from proportion. Most other classic shapes - the apple, the dublin, the pot - are variations worked from this same starting point. Graduated sizing by number is a common practice across pipe making generally, used to sort a shape family by scale rather than by design; a size 4 sits toward the larger end of such a run, and the chamber here bears that out. At 20mm across and a full 43mm deep, it holds enough tobacco for a smoke that can run the better part of an hour without a re-light.
