The deep bend and the contrast between a smooth bowl and a textured shank are the defining features of this unbranded estate pipe. No maker stamp is recorded, so its shape, construction and condition carry the description rather than an attributed workshop or date.
THE SHAPE
Recorded at intake as a smooth full bent billiard, the pipe has a rounded heel and a shank that turns upward before meeting the long curved stem. The side views show the bowl sitting below the raised shank and the mouthpiece following a pronounced curve. The smooth bowl surface shows shifting brown tones and visible grain; the darker textured section along the shank introduces a different surface treatment within the same stummel. A narrow bright ring marks the joint to the stem.
This combination is worth looking at from several angles. From the front the bowl reads as a rounded, smooth form, while the underside and side views reveal the rougher shank panel. It is that contrast, rather than a maker's logo, that makes the pipe recognisable among otherwise conventional bent shapes.
THE STEM AND FITTING
The stem is recorded as acrylic, tapered toward a fishtail bit. Unlike a saddle stem with a pronounced step behind the base, the visible profile narrows along its length. The fitting is recorded for a 9mm filter. This describes the fitting and does not promise that a filter is supplied. The photographs include the stem removed so the joint and opening can be inspected.
THE MARKS
- No maker stamp recorded
No maker, country or production year is assigned. The absence of a recorded name is not used to suggest a particular factory or a hidden association with another brand.
CONDITION
Pre-smoked, in good condition as recorded at intake, with darkening on the rim. The photographs show the rim, chamber, stem and joint; please examine them for the finish and signs of use.
