About this Piece
This is a Niemeyer Special Bruyere short, chubby billiard in a smooth finish, with a vulcanite tapered stem and a fishtail mouthpiece, made for a 9 mm filter.
NIEMEYER is faint in parts, and SPECIAL BRUYERE under it is clearer. Bruyere is the French word for briar.
THE MARKS
- NIEMEYER on the shank
- SPECIAL BRUYERE on the shank, under it
A billiard has an upright bowl on a straight shank, and chubby is the word for a thick, short shank. The bowl here stands tall: 52 mm high and 40 mm across, with a chamber 45 mm deep. With the stem out, its tenon shows a wide bore for the filter. The stem narrows toward the fishtail mouthpiece.
The smooth finish is glossy, and grain lines run up the sides of the bowl.
The stamps carry no year.
Condition: pre-smoked and in very good condition, with faint scratches around the briar.
