About this Piece
Museum-Quality German Hard Leather Cigar/Pipe Travel Case | Anonymous Atelier, Circa Mid-20th Century | Rigid Double-Cover Construction w/ Three Removable Archival Tubes
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
OVERALL DIMENSIONS (Closed):
6.5” wide x 3.5” tall x 1.1” deep
Presented is an extraordinarily rare German soft leather cigar holder exhibiting construction protocols unseen in modern production. The atelier remains anonymous, yet the engineering language is unmistakably that of the great German leather houses—Offenbach or Munich-trained hands, possibly contract work for The White Spot or F. Hammann, yet bearing no exterior stamp.
This is not a case. This is a vault.

ARCHITECTURE
Upon opening, the case bifurcates into two distinct, fully independent components:
THE OUTER COVER
5” x 3.5” x 1.1”
Functions as a protective hard shell. This is not draped leather; it is molded, exhibiting the rigid, fiber-dense compression achieved only via historic wood-form pressing. The grain is tight. The resistance is deliberate. You feel the hand of the maker.
THE INNER SLEEVE
6” x 3” x 1”
A fully independent, hard-leather slipcase. This double-walled construction is exceedingly rare, intended to isolate precious contents from atmospheric shock. It slides. It locks. It protects.

THE MECHANISM – “THE ARCHIVAL TUBE”
Within the hard sleeve reside three removable, hollow hard carton/paper tubes.
This is not a mass-production solution. This is bespoke archival thinking.
Each tube acts as a compression-fit vault, preventing cigar or pipe stems from contacting one another. The system is fully removable, rendering the case adaptable for shorter cigarillo formats, pipe stems, or even as a collector’s slide case for meerschaum fittings.
I have not encountered this system before. You will not encounter it often.
