Old Digger Real Briar Small Hexagonal Rhodesian Bulldog Sandblast Estate Pipe

This is a small Old Digger Real Briar hexagonal Rhodesian bulldog in an old sandblast, with a vulcanite saddle stem. At about 5 inches long its length is normal, and a bowl at least 1.2 inches high would be expected; this bowl is only 23 mm (0.9 in) high.

OLD DIGGER is clear on the shank. On the line under it BRIAR is clear, and the first letters are hidden.

Bulldog and Rhodesian are close, related shapes, and this pipe is named as both. The saddle stem has flat faces and a flat, wide part next to the shank before the slimmer bit. The mouthpiece is not a fishtail and not a P-lip either: it has the small hole of a P-lip, and a sharp, curved lip on both sides, similar to a fishtail.

The old sandblast covers the bowl and the shank, with rough, knobbly ridges.

No date is stamped on it.

Condition: pre-smoked and in good vintage condition, with a dark spot on the rim; please see the photographs.
