When Parker Hardcastle Limited was formed in 1967, Masta was incorporated with it, and from that point the brand operated as a Dunhill / Parker / Hardcastle offshoot, produced primarily for the Scandinavian export market before the name eventually faded from catalogs.

Collectors have long held - and it must be said, the factories never officially confirmed - that Parker, Hardcastle, and Masta pipes of this era served as "second lines" of Dunhill: sound bowls from the same production environment that did not carry the mother house's stamp. What is certain is that Masta belonged to the Dunhill group and was produced in the Parker-Hardcastle establishment, and that Masta and Parker commonly share shapes and shape numbers. We list estate pipes honestly, and this one carries an honest repair: the knurled silver-tone band at the shank end is an aftermarket repair band fitted over an old shank crack. The band is snug, the joint is stable, and the pipe smokes normally - this is the traditional and correct remedy for a cracked shank, and executed cleanly here - but it is a repair, and the price reflects it. Beyond the band: the sandblast surface is intact with expected handling wear, the rim shows use with some softening of the blast at the crown, the chamber carries light cake with no signs of burnout, and the stem shows minor oxidation and light tooth marks. Very good used condition overall for a mid-century working pipe.
