E.A. Carey Magic Inch is marked on this sandblasted, slightly bent billiard estate pipe. Its brown textured bowl and shank meet a long black mouthpiece, with visible slots near the base. The system name is recorded by the stamp and intake note.
The bowl has a near-upright outline with a rounded lower profile. The textured finish continues along the shank, with a smoother area for the markings. The separated-stem photograph shows the internal fitting. No cooling or smoking-performance claim is inferred from the Magic Inch name.
THE MARKS
E.A. Carey; MAGIC INCH; PAT. NO. 3267941. The patent number is quoted as marked, without treating it as the manufacturing date. No manufacturing date is established for this individual example.
THE STEM AND FITTING
The intake records a black mouthpiece with a fishtail bit and the Magic Inch fitting shown in the photographs. The photographs document the mouthpiece profile, bit and stem joint. A fitting specification does not promise a supplied filter.
CONDITION
Farid cannot see signs of use, but reports light dirt and a slight smell from long storage. He therefore lists it conservatively as smoked once, in excellent condition. It is offered as smoked once. The chamber, rim, bowl sides, underside and mouthpiece are shown from several angles. Please examine the photographs together to judge the individual finish and signs of handling.
