The Allwetter pipe, also known as the 'hunter's pipe', is a vintage tobacco pipe designed for comfortable outdoor smoking in windy or wet conditions. Key features include a built-in hinged metal lid or wind cover over the bowl to prevent wind from stoking the tobacco too hot and keep rain or snow from getting inside, and a dedicated chamber or well sitting directly underneath the airway and bowl to catch condensation, allowing the pipe to smoke dry without gurgling even in high humidity. This Allwetter pipe is stamped 'allwetter 340' on the shank, indicating it is part of the Allwetter series and has a shape number of 340.
