Jean Claude is stamped in script on the shank, and the bowl is painted glossy black with amber-coloured panels that meet in a pointed V. This is a large straight pot by Jean Claude, with a smooth, glassy finish, a metal band at the end of the shank and a tapered acrylic stem that ends in a fishtail bit. It is made for a 9 mm filter.
It has been previously smoked and is in good condition. The Jean Claude script on the shank is legible; please see the photographs for the chamber, the rim and the stem.
THE MARKS
- Jean Claude, in script, on the shank
The look of this pipe comes from its two colours. Most of the bowl, the shank and the bottom are glossy black, while amber-coloured panels cut into the black on the sides of the bowl as triangles, one point reaching the rim. The flat rim shows the same amber colour around the dark chamber.
A pot bowl has straight, nearly upright walls and a flat rim, with a wide chamber for its height. The shank is round and closes with a metal band engraved with a twisted, rope-like pattern between two plain edges. The stem is tapered, narrowing evenly from the band to the bit with no step, and it finishes in a fishtail. With the stem out, the tenon shows the opening for the 9 mm filter.
No date is given for this pipe.
