Jean Claude in script on a smooth shank - a small bent apple of vest-pocket size, made for a 9mm filter.
This is a Jean Claude smooth bent apple with a transparent acrylic saddle stem. Next to the shank the stem is black, with a thin orange-colored ring; the bit part is clear, so you can see through it.
THE MARKS
- Jean Claude in script on the shank
THE SHAPE AND THE STEM
An apple bowl is rounded, fuller through the middle and closing in a little toward the rim. Here the bowl is round, the shank is smooth, and the pipe is bent. A saddle stem has a flat, wider part near the shank that steps down to a thinner bit; this one flares out at the end in a fishtail bit.
THE FINISH
The finish is smooth and glossy, and swirling grain shows on the sides of the bowl. Please see the photographs for the grain, the chamber and the stem, including the stem taken off the shank.
No date is given for this pipe.
Condition: pre-smoked, in very good condition.
