DENICOTEA, YACHT, 734 L - a long, black sandblasted Dublin with an important qualification: the meerschaum bowl insert has been removed and is missing. This pipe is offered as pictured, without a replacement insert. It is pre-smoked.
Denicotea began in Cologne in 1932, founded by Willy Heineberg. Its history belongs to the wider smoking-accessory trade as well as to pipes: filters, filter inserts and cigarette holders formed part of the business. After the Second World War the company moved to Bergisch Gladbach. The Denicotea name is especially associated with silica-gel filters. That company history provides the background to the name; it does not establish the manufacturing year or workshop of this Yacht 734 L.
THE MARKS
- DENICOTEA stamped on the shank
- YACHT / 734 L stamped on the shank
The Dublin bowl widens toward the rim, while the straight shank and long tapered stem give the pipe an extended profile. The black sandblast produces a textured surface across the bowl and shank. At 165 mm long and 23 g in its present configuration, it is light for its length.
The stem is vulcanite, tapered toward a fishtail bit, and is described as taking a 9 mm filter. The filter fitting and the missing bowl insert are separate features; the presence of one does not replace the other.
Condition: Pre-smoked, described as in good condition apart from the missing meerschaum bowl insert. The photographs show the open bowl and its present fittings. No replacement insert is included, and no claim is made that a particular replacement will fit or that the pipe is ready to smoke without one. The chamber measurements below describe the opening as it is now, with the insert absent.
