Denicotea Krocket Sandblast Straight Pot Estate Pipe, Vulcanite Saddle Stem

DENICOTEA over KROCKET on the shank: this is a Denicotea Krocket, a sandblasted straight pot on a vulcanite saddle stem with a fishtail mouthpiece, made for a 9 mm filter.

It is pre-smoked and in good condition, with tiny bite marks on the stem. The DENICOTEA line of the stamp is a little faint; KROCKET is clear.

Here the bowl walls rise straight and the bowl is as wide as it is high. A pot is a bowl with straight walls, about as wide as it is tall. The stem has a wide part near the shank and then steps down to a slimmer bit that ends in a fishtail. With the stem out, a filter shows inside the tenon end.

The sandblast covers the bowl, the rim and the shank.

Denicotea began in Cologne in 1932, when Willy Heineberg founded a firm for filters, filter inserts, cigarette holders and pipes. The name belongs first of all to its silica-gel filter; holders and care products carry it as well. Advertisements in an Estonian newspaper in 1938 show the brand sold abroad before the war, and after the Second World War the head office moved to Bergisch Gladbach. The firm also sells pipes under the labels Adsorba, Aldo Morelli and Wessex.
