Norman Sand Sandblast Billiard Meerschaum Insert Unsmoked New Old Stock

NORMAN SAND over MEERSCHAUM, stamped into a sandblasted shank, and a meerschaum lining in the bowl: this is a Norman Sand sandblast billiard with a meerschaum bowl insert, on a vulcanite saddle stem.

The stem ends in a fishtail mouthpiece and takes no filter.

THE MARKS

- NORMAN SAND in capitals, stamped on the shank (NORMAN worn)
- MEERSCHAUM in capitals under it

The lining shows as a light ring at the rim and down inside the chamber. A meerschaum insert gives the chamber a meerschaum wall inside a briar bowl. No date is given for this pipe.

A billiard is the classic pipe shape: a bowl shaped like a cylinder. This bowl is 44 mm high and 32 mm wide around a chamber 20 mm across and 38 mm deep, and the pipe is 143 mm long and weighs 30 g.

The sandblast covers the bowl and the shank.

Condition: unsmoked new old stock. Long storage left a little smell; it has been cleaned and will need more cleaning.
