Aldo Morelli in script and the number 710 are stamped into this red-brown smooth pipe. The bowl broadens toward the rim above a narrower heel, giving the bent Dublin its characteristic flared profile.
THE MARKS
- Aldo Morelli, in script on the shank
- 710, stamped alongside
The number is quoted as a stamped identifier, not interpreted as a year. The available record does not establish a production date.
THE SHAPE AND FINISH
The bowl has a flared upper outline and a narrower lower section above the rounded heel. From the bowl, the shank rises to a black saddle stem, giving the pipe a bent profile while leaving the broad rim easy to see in the top views. The smooth finish shows a deep red-brown colour with visible grain running through the bowl and shank. Light-coloured rings around the stem base provide a clear visual break between the wood and the black mouthpiece; no precious-metal content is claimed for them.
The Dublin description is particularly useful here because it directs attention to the widening bowl, rather than simply calling every rounded bent pipe an apple. The recorded 43mm bowl height and 34mm outer width are the dimensions of this individual example, while the 20mm chamber diameter and 37mm depth describe the interior separately.
THE STEM AND FITTING
The stem is recorded as acrylic with a saddle profile, a fishtail bit and a 9mm filter fitting. The thicker base steps down before the curved mouthpiece. The photographs include the stem out of the shank, showing the fitting as well as the assembled outline. A filter fitting is described; a supplied filter is not promised.
CONDITION
Pre-smoked, in good condition as recorded at intake, with fading to the stain, scratches around the briar and darkening on the rim. These signs of use are part of the listing. The photographs show the rim, chamber, underside, stem and stamps so the finish and wear can be judged directly.
