Facts, not a grade. We do not score a pipe out of ten: a number would rank a restored pipe above an honest one, and restoration is exactly what this hobby prices down. Every line above is checkable by anyone holding the pipe. Lines marked Faridunhill standing declaration rest on our published, dated statement of shop practice (v1.0, 2026-07-29) — not on an inspection of this individual pipe. It is one document, in public, that you can hold us to.
ROYAL STAR over 749 on the shank of a smooth bent billiard in very good condition.
This is a smooth bent billiard with a vulcanite saddle stem and a P-lip bit. It is a pre-smoked estate pipe in very good condition.
THE MARKS - ROYAL STAR - 749
Our intake note calls it a Stanwell second. The stamp itself does not name Stanwell or a country, and we hold no record that confirms who made Royal Star pipes, so we give no maker story and no year.
THE SHAPE A bent billiard keeps the classic billiard bowl, round and straight-sided, and adds a bend in the stem, so the pipe hangs comfortably from the teeth. On this pipe the vulcanite saddle stem steps down from a wide section at the shank to a slimmer blade. The P-lip bit has a raised lip with the smoke hole on top rather than at the end, a design many smokers choose because it turns the smoke stream upward. The briar is smooth.
Condition: pre-smoked, in very good condition. Please see the photographs, which show the pipe from every side, the chamber from above, the stem taken out and the stamp close up.
THE MEASUREMENTS - Length: 133 mm (5.24 in) - Bowl height: 48 mm (1.89 in) - Bowl width: 37 mm (1.46 in) - Chamber diameter: 20 mm (0.79 in) - Chamber depth: 43 mm (1.69 in) - Weight: 48 g (1.69 oz)

This record is append-only. Nothing is deleted — a correction is a new entry that supersedes the old one, and both stay visible.
Nobody leaves empty-handed. If you hold the catalogue page, the dated advertisement, or a hallmarked sibling that closes one of these — or simply own this model and can measure yours — send it in. Contributions are checked, credited to you by name, and the record is updated with the date it changed.
Faridunhill shop post, 2026-10-18. Published to a third-party platform on that date and archived since — a timestamp we cannot move. It is evidence that this object existed and looked like this, then.
The photographs are the identity. 10 images of this pipe's grain, stamping and stem are held as its fingerprint. The handle above is only a handle: lose it, and the pipe can still be matched back to this record from its grain.
