Facts, not a grade. We do not score a pipe out of ten: a number would rank a restored pipe above an honest one, and restoration is exactly what this hobby prices down. Every line above is checkable by anyone holding the pipe. Lines marked Faridunhill standing declaration rest on our published, dated statement of shop practice (v1.0, 2026-07-29) — not on an inspection of this individual pipe. It is one document, in public, that you can hold us to.
RONSON over ENGLAND, struck in a circle on the underside of the metal bowl cup, is the main mark on this pipe, and it tells you at once that this is not an ordinary all-briar pipe.
This is a classic English metal pipe made by Ronson: a black matte metal shank and bowl cup that hold a removable briar bowl in a black rusticated finish, with a black tapered mouthpiece that ends in a fishtail. There is no filter. It is a pre-smoked estate pipe in very good condition.
THE MARKS - RONSON, in an arc, over ENGLAND, inside a circle on the bottom of the metal cup
A pipe of this kind is built in parts that each do their own job. The briar bowl sits in the metal cup and lifts out, so the bowl can be taken off for cleaning and drying. The mouthpiece carries a long, thin metal tube that runs inside the metal shank; one photograph shows the pipe taken apart into bowl, cup and shank, and mouthpiece with its tube. As noted when the pipe came in, the Ronson has its own cooler system.
The removable bowl is briar with a deep, rugged rustication, stained black, with straight sides that narrow a little toward the base. The metal body has a soft matte black finish that matches the bowl. The photographs show the pipe from every side, the chamber from above, the parts taken apart, and the stamp close up.
The mouthpiece tapers to a fishtail: it flattens and widens toward the tip, which gives the teeth and lips a broad, comfortable surface to rest on.
Condition: pre-smoked, in very good condition. Please see the photographs.

This record is append-only. Nothing is deleted — a correction is a new entry that supersedes the old one, and both stay visible.
Nobody leaves empty-handed. If you hold the catalogue page, the dated advertisement, or a hallmarked sibling that closes one of these — or simply own this model and can measure yours — send it in. Contributions are checked, credited to you by name, and the record is updated with the date it changed.
Faridunhill shop post, 2026-10-17. Published to a third-party platform on that date and archived since — a timestamp we cannot move. It is evidence that this object existed and looked like this, then.
The photographs are the identity. 11 images of this pipe's grain, stamping and stem are held as its fingerprint. The handle above is only a handle: lose it, and the pipe can still be matched back to this record from its grain.
