Facts, not a grade. We do not score a pipe out of ten: a number would rank a restored pipe above an honest one, and restoration is exactly what this hobby prices down. Every line above is checkable by anyone holding the pipe. Lines marked Faridunhill standing declaration rest on our published, dated statement of shop practice (v1.0, 2026-07-29) — not on an inspection of this individual pipe. It is one document, in public, that you can hold us to.
Molina, in a flowing script, and MADE IN ITALY are stamped on the shank. This is a very elegant pot from Molina, in a shiny smooth ebony finish, with two metal bands: a thin one in the shank and a wide one for the army mount. The tapered acrylic stem ends in a fishtail bit, and the pipe takes a 9mm filter.
It is pre-smoked and in very good condition, but there are clear scratches on both sides of the bowl. Please see the photos for the full condition; they are part of this description.
Molina comes from Barasso, in Lombardy, in the north of Italy. According to Pipedia, the company was born from what was left of the old Rossi pipe factory, which started in the early 1900s. Molina took over not only the factory but also its machinery and its methods of production. The name Molina refers to a district where mills once ran on water power. Pipedia's list of Italian makers names Giovanni Carollo of Barasso, in the province of Varese, in connection with the brand.
THE MARKS - Molina, in script, stamped on the shank - MADE IN ITALY stamped on the shank
The pot is one of the classic pipe shapes: a short, wide bowl with straight sides and a flat top. This one is 152 mm long, with a bowl 39 mm high and 42 mm wide, so the bowl is wider than it is tall. The chamber is 20 mm across and 29 mm deep.
An army mount is a metal ferrule fitted over the end of the shank, and the stem pushes into it. Here the wide metal band at the end of the shank forms the army mount, and a thinner band sits farther up the shank. The tapered acrylic stem narrows toward a fishtail bit, which is flat and wide at the end.
The bowl and shank are finished in a shiny smooth ebony black, which shows the shape clearly and contrasts with the two metal bands.
Our records do not give a date for these marks, so we do not date this pipe from its stamps.

This record is append-only. Nothing is deleted — a correction is a new entry that supersedes the old one, and both stay visible.
Nobody leaves empty-handed. If you hold the catalogue page, the dated advertisement, or a hallmarked sibling that closes one of these — or simply own this model and can measure yours — send it in. Contributions are checked, credited to you by name, and the record is updated with the date it changed.
Faridunhill shop post, 2026-10-15. Published to a third-party platform on that date and archived since — a timestamp we cannot move. It is evidence that this object existed and looked like this, then.
The photographs are the identity. 13 images of this pipe's grain, stamping and stem are held as its fingerprint. The handle above is only a handle: lose it, and the pipe can still be matched back to this record from its grain.
