Description
John Peel Special (821) Barling 2nd. Zulu A Portland Pipe Made Wholly In England. Condition is “Used”. Shipped with USPS First Class.
Jon Peel is a great subject for confusion. Possibly because that is the name of a huntsman who was the subject of a traditional English ballad (D’ye ken John Peel), either “John Peel” or just “Peel” crops up in several different places as far as English-made pipe nomenclature goes. There are John Peels that are stamped “BB&S Ltd”, clearly made by Barling, and there are ones stamped only “John Peel” and “London England”, which are believed to have been Barling also. There was the Loewe & Co. “Peel”, which I’ve only ever seen stamped on a few smooth-finished Canadians. Then there was the “A Portland Pipe” stamped John Peels, which were presumably produced by the Portland Pipe Company (some of Portland’s brands are said to have later been made by Barling, adding to the confusion, but I am unaware of the basis for that claim).
please consider the photos as item description, all my list will sold as it is.
It is used pipe , I did my best to clean and buff it, I did clean all my pipes from outside, left the inside for my customers standards and personal use.
