Description
English Estates Dunhill London Patent March-9.15 Inner Tube (113)(A.)(1922) Pipe. Condition is “Used”. Shipped with USPS First Class.
Dunhill’s proprietary inner tubes were once used as a way to keep the internals of a pipe clean before the widespread use of pipe cleaners. Designed to be disposable, the aluminum tubes could simply be replaced once becoming dirty. As such, it’s incredibly rare to find pipes with an original inner tube, and this particular offering lacks the metal tube. That being said, this piece is a magnificent example of the historic marque’s unparalleled approach to shape chart standards and was crafted nearly 100 years ago. Adding to its desirability, this is a March Patent — the pinnacle for many devoted Dunhill collectors. Shape-wise, it’s a lengthy, trim Billiard that’s undeniably classic and timeless in its shaping and execution. The warm tones of the Bruyere finish further accentuates its traditional appeal, highlighting a gorgeous array of grain across the bowl’s surface. While it’s seen some use since its creation in 1922, it has plenty of life left in it and will provide a lifetime of enjoyment with care. Condition-wise, it should be noted that the airway around the button is smaller than most Dunhills from this era and as a result a thick, fluffy pipe cleaner will not pass, but a standard one will.
