Reuben’s era” refers to the period between 1910 and roughly around 1960, when Charatan’s was under the direction of, you guessed it, Reuben Charatan. This overlaps with the “Lane era” on account of that period being counted as the beginning of Lane’s influence, as a distributor, on Charatan production. The Lane era you’ll hear of as starting in either 1950 or 1955, the former being the start of Lane’s influence, the latter being the year when Herman Lane became the sole distributor for Charatan’s in the US. This briar, from what I’ve read, would be post-1950, as that is when it is said Lane began getting Charatan to expand their grades beyond the basic four of Supreme, Selected, Executive, and Belvedere.
This Charatan is a wonderful size. Lightweight and easy in the teeth, tapered stem, the chamber walls are respectably meaty and the chamber dimensions will please many pipers. The curvy bowl feels as good in the hand as it looks, and the rich burgundy stain highlights some seriously impressive grain. Overall, this is a pipe that gives the more “desirable” era Charatans a run for their money.
please consider the photos as item description, all my list will sold as it is.
It is used pipe , I did my best to clean and buff it, I did clean all my pipes from outside, left the inside for my customers standards and personal use.
